Devon Graduates from Columbia University MFA Playwriting Program

After entering the school in 2018, Devon has finally graduated from Columbia University's MFA Theatre Program with a Degree in Playwriting.


While Playwriting was Devon's primary focus and study, he also took courses in Television Writing, Film Writing, Musical Theatre Writing, Directing, Producing, and Theatre Management.


Devon has worked under and received mentorship from various major Theatre Professionals such David Henry Hwang, Lynn Nottage, Tarell Alvin McCraney, Charles Mee, Michael Korie, and many more.


During his time, Devon crafted three full-length plays: Not Even God (2019), In the Jungle (2020), and Plentywater (2021).


Devon has also received major theatrical acknowledgments: he was nominated as a Columbia@Roundabout Reading Series in 2019, awarded as winner of the same competition in 2020, and named a Roundabout Theatre Archival Fellow in 2021.


His thesis play Plentywater: A small Mississippi town is hit with an Alien Invasion In an Alternate-Reality 1938. As the world around them is now set ablaze, four Black women who hate each other must work together to survive the end of the world.
